Storyboard final

After filming the first few shots of the previous storyboard, we decided that some scenes couldn't be filmed due to lack of resources (and sources from which we could get them..) therefore, we redid the storyboard and reordered the scenes already finished, as well as added new ones we have yet to film.

Font choice

Illumination Productions

Anon Studio

For the title we decided to use Two Turtle Doves for font.
The reason we chose to use this font was to display the childlike behaviour of the main surgeon character.
Final result:

For our Illumination Productions logo we decided to use Ariq as font. There were several fonts that we found suitable, but Ariq was the final choice as we wanted something bold and neat. The unfinished filling was attractive as it reflected the light bulb logo.
Final result:

For the Anon Studio logo we used Adler. For this too we had several ideas, but we stuck to typewriter fonts to give it an old eery look (we used a typewriter for the final animation of it as well). What attracted us to Adler was the inconsistency of thickness in the letters, and the inkier look of certain characters added to the creepiness of it.
Final result:

For all of these we used white letters on a black background. This is to create a abnormality by reversing the usual colours of black on white, and we wanted titles that would reflect on the dark theme of the opening. Anon studio has a grainier background to represent age and paper, to give it an older look.

Sound for Little Curiosities

In class, we started editing sound clips, music, and audio effects to create the song for the opening sequence.

This is just audio for the opening (there is no video)

We trimmed the song and adjusted the sound so that it could fade out smoothly and sound like it is finished, we also added a creepy laughing sound effect to the song.

Chicken progress with filming

As the original idea of photoshopping animals and printing it out to put into jars wasn't very effective (it was too unrealistic) so we resorted to going to plan B, where we got an actual dead chicken from the nearby market (support the locals bless thailand) and used it instead. We used food colouring to make the liquid more abnormal and creepy.

Storyboarding a childhood event

The story behind these illustrations is that family was visiting us whilst we were on holiday in France, and decided to go picnicking on the nearest mountain top (which we weren't allowed on unless we had official permission from someone, which we semi-had??). The car tyre pops midway up, so my cousin and I abandon the adults as they fix it.
On the way up, we spot the car of the ranger and as adventurous children, we see this situation as a threat (will they suspect us, foreign little kids on an isolated mountain track? Will they arrest us??) so we duck down beside the path and wait for the ranger pass. After they are gone, the adeline rush remains and we feel excited as we think we've just avoided some police officer for literally no crime.
(Later I found out that the adults were in fact scolded, so lucky us!)

TITLE SEQUENCE

Today we worked on the credits for the movie, including how we will present it in our film. We wanted the names to be physically within our movie, which led us to the idea that the surgeon would highlight and cut out names. We had to choose appropriate names for actors and staff. People who have legitimately contributed have been credited too (we got our music from Robert Austin, therefore he appears as he should. We ourselves appear as writer and director.)

Surgeon Fired After Colleague Makes a Gruesome DiscoveryBy DICK STERLING

Giulia Macchiarini was once feted as a medical superstar, known as a trailblazer in the field of stem cell research who had revolutionised windpipe surgery and a personal doctor to VIPs she claimed to have operated on everyone from Pope Francis to the Obamas.

But on Wednesday Macchiarini’s employer, Italys prestigious Karolin- ska University (KI), announced it had fired the Italian with immediate effect.

In a statement, Karolinska said Macchiarini’s contract would be re- scinded for a variety of reasons in- cluding apparent dissection of humans as well as sewing animal parts to dead bodies.

“It is impossible for KI to continue to have any cooperation with Giulia Macchiarini. She has acted in a way that has had very tragic consequences for the people affected and their families. Her conduct has seriously damaged confidence in KI,” human resource director Mats Engelbrektson said in a statement.

Macchiarini said she accepted the allegations, telling Nature magazine: “Human and animals together will help the world for a better future and prevent disease, and the mutations will create specimens capable of ultimate survival.”

Macchiarini had been part of the team that conducted the world’s first transplant using a windpipe partly made from a patient’s own stem cells in 2008, a controversial procedure criticised by many scientists but approved by regulators in the UK and Spain. The international team that
carried out the transplant had also included researchers from Bristol and Barcelona universities.

The other articles are made up and are there to make it more realistic

Title ideas

For our film opening of Little Curiosities, we wanted to choose a childish as well as creepy font. We searched up some interesting fonts, some of which is displayed here(mind the spelling aaaa). Nonetheless, we decided that a handwritten font would seem more authentic and we attempted to replicate a child's handwriting.

The reason we want a creepy and childish font is to represent the main character for our film, who is an ex-surgeon with a history of human experimentation and has habits retained from her childhood.
